More than a third of Brazilians (36%) who use information technology as part of everyday life have a habit of checking their work e-mail during the holidays. The information is from a research commissioned by Unisys to IDC.

According to the study, among professionals who use corporate tablets, this percentage rises to 45%. That’s because people who use the company’s iPad for business tend to work more, from different places and situations, than those who use other devices.

United States

The Brazilian professional is not the only one who does not leave the job aside while on vacation. Survey conducted by Harris Interactive shows that in the United States, 46% of professionals do not leave work aside during the holidays, this number includes 35% who monitor the work email during the rest period.

The study also shows that 22 percent of Americans make work-related phone calls while on vacation.

In general, men take the most work for holidays: 54%, against 37% of women. By age, professionals between 34 and 44 years and those who have between 18 and 34 are the ones who most have this habit. They are 57% and 50%, respectively. Next, people aged 45 to 54 years (49%) and those over 55 (31%) appear.
